What a great little device! From looking at it on line it's hard to tell if it will withstand much use... the cup portion looks rather thin! However, it will cut right through an apple core no problem! It's clear after only a few uses that this mellon baller will be around for a long time! I'm very happy with my purchase!

I feel the scoop is just a tad too big. I had another mellon baller, just as good as the KitchenAid, but the balls were smaller and just so cute. Still, it's a great tool and can help in so many ways, not just cantaloupe, but cheeses, cucumbers, and other fruits!
